Joseph HockingJoseph Hocking was born 7 November, 1860 to James Hocking and Elizabeth Hocking in Saint Stephen-in-Brannel, United Kingdom. He was a Cornish Novelist and United Methodist Free Church Minister in 1884, he was appointed as a Methodist minister. Workin in various parts of England over the next couple of years, he wrote his first novel, Harry Penhale - The Trial of his Faith, staying in London in 1887. He considers fiction as an extremely successful medium for passing his Christian message on to society and continued his writing with his church duties until the ill health forced him to leave the ministry in 1909. He carries on with writing, and throughout his course, he was the writer of almost 100 books. Most of them are forgotten now, he was extremely famous in his day.
